Welcome to the 05 February @boutSeniors enewsletter.
You may have noticed that the traffic jams have started again – particularly around nine in the morning and four in the afternoon. Yes, those darlings are back at school and whilst this may clog the roads, what an opportunity to enjoy crowd-free travel at lower prices. This issue Debbie has sourced train and plane and car deals to get you going.
And speaking of going, we loved the story about the opening of the “seniors” playground in Manchester. This followed the creation of similar fun spots, called Seniorenspielplätze, in the German towns of Schoningen, Berlin and Nuremberg, which in turn were inspired by the Finnish concept of "three-generational play" demonstrating the benefits of three months of playing for older residents. Does anyone know of a similar playground in Australia? And wouldn't it be great if these playgrounds were not just three-generational, but intergenerational as well? Early feedback in Britain indicates the exercise is appreciated, but the breaking down of social isolation for single seniors is the real benefit.
Competition fans will enjoy two opportunities to win this week – a poll on your favourite features of @boutSeniors site will run for four weeks, and allows you the opportunity to win one of ten packs of five DVDs, or enter to win one of four copies of Sir David Attenborough's The First Eden.
And don't forget to watch out for next week's special Valentines Day enews - Love is in the air!
Go for it!
