13 May VOL 08 Issue 19

Volunteering

Welcome to the 13 May @boutSeniors enewsletter.

It's great to be back - and just in time for the budget, too... LOL!

But no, seriously, our three weeks travel in Chile, Peru and Bolivia has reminded us yet again how lucky we are to live in a country where clean water, three meals a day, and the opportunity to work is available to nearly all. But one of the most enduring impressions we have brought home with us is the generosity of the locals, and their ability to smile, no matter how tough their situation might be. Read more about our visit to Machu Picchu and check out the image we took by mobile phone.

This issue we are concentrating on your feedback and questions on health services, Centrelink entitlements, and celebrating volunteers' week, a time to thank the multitude of Australians who give their time, energy and resources to assist others.

It is also Financial Planning Week and we are pleased to highlight a new free site which offers professional advice from qualified planners.
Tonight is also the opportunity for new Federal Treasurer, Wayne Swan, to balance the books, reduce inflation, encourage productivity, and look after the less well-off. A tough juggling act indeed, and we will be summarising the outcomes for seniors in next week's enews.
