8 April VOL 08 Issue 13

Local Heroes

Welcome to the 08 April @boutSeniors enewsletter.

Our quote this week really says it all - we can't all take centre stage all the time, but it is still possible to be a hero. In this edition we look at some of the many ways we can be small-time heroes - and make a difference to others.

Motoring legend, Peter Brock, was a hero to many - and now you can visit Yeppoon in Queensland to experience the Champions Brock experience.

Geoff's blog considers the opportunities we all have to respond to other's needs, whilst Travel express looks at the way we can travel less selfishly or, perhaps, even volunteer along the way. Getting out there emphasises the important role neighbours can play, and highlights some new posts from active seniors seeking companions on our Meeting Place.

The response to our Ballykissangel DVD competition has been overwhelming - the good news is that there is still time to enter.

And our "small-time" heroes this week are the many Sydney seniors who have attended the "HOW TO" workshops in the T[life] store in George St and had a go using mobiles and the internet, some for the first time.

Yours in friendship
David and Kaye Fallick

Wellbeing

Help out - stay healthy
Reaching the age of retirement can mean the end of work and social life and a decline in health for some. Volunteering keeps you active and healthy.
