Family connections

Welcome to the 01 April @boutSeniors enewsletter.

This week we are celebrating the many ways we connect with our families - in particular our grandparents - as well as the many ways technology is helping us to stay in touch as much as we like.

It is also NSW Seniors week - and what better way to celebrate than learning a new skill? Next week we are delighted to be working with Telstra and the Gadget Guy, Peter Blasina, presenting three free workshops on understanding the internet, how email works and mastering your mobile. Free magazines, recharge cards and tea and coffee are on offer in the T[life] store in George Street, Sydney on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, just phone 1800 729 254 to book your place now, or email your registration here.

Last month's competition for the Are You Being Served? DVD was our most popular ever - check out the winners, and enter our new DVD competition to win Series 4 of Ballykissangel. We're also giving away 10 double passes to Paris, the new movie starring Juliette Binoche.

Age Pension concerns just won't go away, and when you're bringing up the grandchildren it just gets harder. Happily the good people at COTA have an excellent program for grandparents in need. Our personals section is busy with adverts for travel companions and even one for a surrogate grandfather. Do you want to connect with someone new?

Getting out there

Surrogate grandfather
Families are no longer mum, dad and kids, they take all different forms, many without strong male or female influences. Take a look at our personal ad for a surrogate grandfather.

Grandparents are the future
Grandparents - we can learn from their mistakes and flourish in their kindness. Grandparents have much to offer within their own family and beyond.

Family travels
Is there more to life than msn and Facebook? One mother decided a year-long camping trip around Australia would teach her kids there is - and given that she has eight (yes, EIGHT) children, that's no mean feat.
