Hi Drew the chat room is GREAT!!! is there any way that it can have a BEEP--to let us know when someone is there if we are not at the putor--and the coloured typing doesn’t seem to work on the person you are typing to

Sorry to say on the web based version you cannot get a beep… but PlanB for someone like you who may keep it on all day i am going to write a “easy” walk through on how to install a small piece of software (2mb?) that works better than the web based version… may take 5-10 minutes to setup but it is far easier to use.

So everyone knows, the chat room is based on a large free database with other channels involved so their names may already be taken, which is why you may get an invalid name, my name Drew was even taken :(

Your all welcome and i will try and improve it next week when i have a bit more free time as it has been very very busy around here this week with both Kaye and Debbie flying out!

Drew smile Would there be any way to show there is someone in the chatroom at all please?

I was in there but nobody knew I was and also if anyone is in there waiting there is no
“engaged” notice to show there is someone to chat to. If this is beyond the realms of it being easy no worries.  We are grateful to have the chatroom.  Would be nice to just log onto chat and see there is someone there smile
We humans always want more you know. Human nature.
Thanks you are appreciated.

Phyl if some one is there in the chat room their name will be up in the right hand corner once you sign in.  I often have the chat room left on the computer when I am signed in--I might be away from the computer--but if I am passing I can see if anyone is there.

Hi all,

I have had a good look into it and i cannot modify to add sounds in the web version. If you are looking to stay logged in until someone logs on to chat and want to have a sound notification, the best thing for you to do would be to following the steps in the following link:
http://www.wyldryde.org/a/001425.php

Once you get to Step 7, You need to put in AboutSeniors as the channel to join. If prompted with a Password, it is Australia.

Now here is the part that gets a little frustrating and hard to remember to do every time.

To register your username with this program (as we cannot put in the About Seniors database) you will need to type in the following command /msg NickServ REGISTER password email
Replace ‘password’ with a unique password and ‘email’ with your legitimate email address.
Or an example would be /msg NickServ REGISTER mysecretpassword

Once you have registered you will need to remember to type the following every time you login.

/ns identify password
Be SURE to replace ‘password’ with the unique password you created during registration

If at any time you lose the AboutSeniors channel you can re-join it by typing /join #AboutSeniors

If you forget to identify your password and your nickname is changed, you can type /nick drewp, as the example for what i would type and this will change it back and you will have to identify.

Please let me know if this has helped or just complicated things, i will also post this information at the bottom of the chat page so if you have troubles you can find it easier on that page!

I used to try the Chats, but the time difference is the bugbare ,,convenient times in the eastern states are very inn convenient for us in Western Australia..the most popular time when I was trying was 8pmEST,and that is when I am trying to get dinner on the table
