Leaving Melbourne 1st September, returning 15th October via Brisbane and Sydney. Travelling in modern, well-equipped Toyota Hiace camper van - fridge, stove etc. Registered for 4 passengers, but would prefer to have one or two fellow travellers. I have a tent and mattresses. I suffer from severe back, & knee problems,

Depression in Later Life

A great deal of information is available about depression in young people however relatively little is known about how negative life events and depression affects older people. In fact, up until recently it was thought that depression is less likely to occur as we grow older. However recent studies suggest that this may not be the case and that older people may suffer similar rates of depression as younger people but this depression may present differently thus making it more difficult to diagnose and treat.

I am a registered psychologist undertaking a study into depression in later life which has been approved and will be supervised by Charles Sturt University, Bathurst.

We are seeking people aged 60 years and older who live independently in the community to complete a survey. If you agree to participate you will be asked to fill in several pages of questions relating to recent negative life events, the causes you attribute to these events, and any depressive symptoms that you may have experienced. We will also ask for some other information, such as your age, gender, mental health, physical health, marital status, living arrangements and number of friends. The full set of questions should take approximately 25 minutes to complete. 

This survey is anonymous and your identity can not be connected with any of the results. Please note you do not need to have suffered depression to take part in this study.

As an incentive, I am offering a weekend farmstay holiday at Yanderra Estate Farmstay and B&B for a family of 5. More information about Yanderra Estate is available at http://www.yanderraestate.com.au.

The accomodation is within a small “village” and is a low set Villa with large living areas a private courtyard and garden that backs onto a reserve - it is a very quite complex with a lovely pool and barbecue area.
I have a plasma TV internet access a lock up garage that we can share = me weekends you monday to friday, an automatic washing machine and garden clothes line, a lovely sunroom fully security screened if you do smoke and a bedroom furnished or unfurnished with built in wardrobes - there is one large bathroom with bath and shower facilities - I would appreciate it if you would be happy to share the cleaning or share the cost of a cleaning lady. It is a very pleasant area to live and handy to all amenities so if you are interest ed give me an email - Cost will be $150 per week inclusive of electricity water etc.

PHOTOGRAPHY MATES ON THE GOLD COAST

While I live too far away to be a photography companion for Cicero,(NSW south coast) I could be your companion if you live on the Gold Coast, Northern NSW or Brisbane.
I do own a reliable 4WD and occasionally charge passengers a small fee to take them on tours of Fraser Island. However there are wonderful places to photograph in the Gold Coast Hinterland by 4WD access.
If anyone is interested in going on day photography trips and are prepared to share petrol expenses, I would be happy to show you the best places and if necessary give photography tips. 
I also teach people how to use their computer to get great pictures from their digital cameras.

Old Valueless Household Items wanted

I am flying to L.A. on the 21st. march, ‘09. I had originally intended to travel with a friend but she is now too ill to travel. DVD - Never Say Never Again

I was wondering if anyone had a copy (they want to sell) or knew where I could obtain a DVD of the James Bond Film Never Say Never Again. It’s the only one made that was not an EON production (as all the others except the first Casino Royale were). It’s also the “comeback” (and last) movie featuring Sean Connery as James bond.

I know it’s probably on a lot of on-line sites, but by the time delivery fees are included it’s not worth purchasing that way.

Fishing companion wanted

I live on the Atherton Tablelands and would like to meet a man I can go fishing with. I am 68, so someone close to my age would be great, I also love camping and the outdoors too. I guess I am a bit of a grey nomad, also a bit of a greenie (but not an over the top one )I love animals too. I have driven up from Victoria and have been on the Tablelands for the last three months. I love it up here, everything is so lovely. I do have a lot of interests as well, I like to paint, and I do a bit of jewellery making, I also love gardening, mainly vegetables, organic, of course! I’m not into many sports any more, a bit of arthritis that seems to hit us all at this stage of our lives ! but! I can still throw in a line and can still drag in a fish! The best fishing spot off shore is Sweers Island off Karunba, a wonderful place that is 70 odd Kilometres off Karumba, need to fly out there, the fishing is GREAT!

Old Tennis Partners and Good Friends

Back in the early part of the 1950’s, a group of us played tennis in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.  Most of also spent many hours together in social activities.  There were a few of us who regularly spent Sunday nights at the home of one of our friends - dinner and cards with his family in Coogee.
We hailed from NSW, Queensland and Victoria so our paths crossed for a few wonderful years before we each went in differnet directions.  I deeply regret losing touch with these wonderful people and am now trying various ways of possibly contacting some or all of them.
I have no idea if the interstate people returned to their home states.  I had a short sojourn in Melbourne before returning to make my life in New South Wales.
