Seniors Associations - Queensland

Associations for senior citizens are given below. Where there is a seniors national association with state branches, details of state contacts will be with the national association. Check the ‘Age Page’ of the Community Services section of your local telephone directory for many useful contact phone numbers for Commonwealth and State Government departments in your area plus listings for community groups, Home and Community Care (HACC), Aged Care Assessment Teams and other organisations. Community Information

The Community Portal helps Australians find relevant, up-to-date community information and services. There are more than 250 community topics and links to thousands of resources provided by all levels of government and the non-government sector. The Community Portal is for individuals and communities, and includes special sections for community groups and for community developers.

Home and Community Care

The HACC Program is a cost shared program between the Commonwealth and State and Territory governments. Through the program, funds are provided for services which support frail aged and younger disabled people to stay living at home. These services include Domicillary Nursing (eg Blue Care, Qld), Meals on Wheels, Homecare, and Respite Care.

Seniors Card

The Seniors Card is for retired Queenslanders over 65 and for those retired residents over 60 who already receive a specified Centrelink or Veterans' payment or concession card. A Seniors Business Discount Card is available to all permanent Queensland residents who are 60 years of age or over, regardless of their income or assets who do not qualify for a Seniors Card. Seniors Card holders receive concessions on ambulance, public transport, car and boat registration, electricity and health services (including dental).

Seniors Enquiry Line

Seniors Enquiry Line is Queensland's information service for Seniors. Their website contains information on activities around the state, a monthly newsletter and bulletin board where you can post a message. Looking out for seniors' interests is what they do best. Seniors Enquiry Line is funded by Queenslands Department of Families (Seniors Interests Branch) and operated by Lifeline Brisbane.

Home Assist Secure of the Department of Housing is a service that aims to remove some of the practical housing related difficulties experienced by older people and people with a disability who wish to remain living in their home. By providing free information, advice and subsidised assistance to eligible people the program can give them the confidence to remain living in their homes for as long as they choose.

Logan Area Committee on the Ageing Inc.

Logan Area Committee on the Ageing Inc. generally aims to promote and assist the mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing of all Seniors in Logan. Connecting Generation 3

G3 is a term that Enabling Queensland has adapted to provide a simple and uncoloured way of identifying older Australians. The overall aim of the CG3 strategy is to encourage senior Australians (those over 55 years - Generation 3) to access the computer and internet to maximise their quality of life and connectedness to families and community.
